A Great Father and son book

Great book! My four year old son loves this book. The illustrations are wonderful.Just a great book for a father and son

If He/She Loves Cars, This Is IT !!!!

This is my three year old son's favorite book. Even though I've had to read it over a hundred times I still enjoy the awsome illustration and surprise ending. I'm tired of checking it out at library and want him to read it someday to his children, so I'm currently looking to buy it. Unfortunately you can't get it in stores anymore and it's not easy to find cheap on line.

My Son LOVES this book

My 3-year old son adores this book. He is a car/truck fanatic, and was a "reluctant reader" for a while. Books like this grab his attention and have helped him become a book lover. He loves to listen to the rhythym of the language used in "Smash-Up Crash- Up Derby" and especially enjoys the descriptive words, like "BANG! POP! HISS!" as the cars crash into each other. Incidentally, it is not a particularly violent story, and no one gets hurt. We first got this book at the library, but decided we HAD to have one of our own.

Lots of fun, excellent illustrations

I thought it important to counteract the other reviewer's comments since he obviously is either confused or joking. This is a book about a demolition derby in the US in the 20th century, not some bunch of English characters prancing about. My kids love this book. The illustrations are are precise and interesting. The story is written with a poetic ear that definetely keeps even a two year old's attention. And it makes the commonplace seem special. I don't mind reading this one every night.
