"The Skeptic's Guide to Global Poverty" was a surprisingly quick and easy read; I finished it in about two hours. It really is intended to be a very basic introduction to the idea of poverty and the ways it affects people and people are fighting it.
This is not a book meant for serious study of poverty. It glosses over major issues pretty quickly. However, I don't mean that to be a criticism; if you need a book that will simplify the daunting task of even thinking about global poverty seem manageable, this is the book for you. I was especially pleased by the bibliography of books and websites for further reading that was included at the back.
