The Silver Mage

A great book to read sitting in front of a blazing fire on a cold winters evening. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and found it very difficult to put down. To my mind it was the best book in this series, adding a new dimension to all the previous characters. Knowing some of the characters in the previous books it was tantalising watching their personalites develop in this book. One felt as if one was actually withing the pages of the book.

THE SILVER MAGE represents Book Four of The Silver Wyrm series and concludes the entire Deverry saga: thus is especially recommended for libraries finding the prior Deverry titles popular lends. Here the Horsekin are assembling along Dar's northern border when the Dwrgi folk and dragons come to Dar's aid, tipping the balance in their favor. Fast action and tension contribute to an outstanding fantasy's conclusion.

I wish this book wasn't the end. I love this series. That said, it does wind the questions up very well. The Rhodry end was the only one that would have been satisfying to the readers. I hope that Katharine Kerr visits Deverry again in some way. The book is terrific and I recommend it and the whole series.

This is a wonderful end to a wonderful series. I've been reading it since _The Bristling Wood_ and had begun to fear that Ms Kerr might never end the series! Which would have been good because I enjoyed it so much but frustrating because what if she never answered all the questions? There is one flashback, which helps wind up several threads. A paradox, that revealing the past can answer questions in the future, but that is one of the ongoing themes of the series. While Ms Kerr has said that she strives to make each book stand alone, I think most readers would probably get more from this book had they already read at least _The Shadow Isle_ first.
