It was a button pusher (for us Kindle users). I laughed often. A different take on serial killers. Jeff Lindsay and Dexter books, watch out. I was miffed up to the end and then throughly surprised at the who the real KK was. Enjoy. It was well written, didn't spend to much time building stories that little relevance to why I was reading

I loved this story. Laughed out loud several times. It's a quick funny read. I was laughing for two straight days after the 'first date' episode.

Read this book in the US recently. Loved it. Really loved it. Laughed out loud throughout my flight back to London. Buying copies online for friends in the UK and couldn't believe an inane review I've just read. Has this person read this book? Has the author beaten the poor reviewer to an idea? Is the reviewer just plain dumb? Maybe some people just don't get the joke. Fair enough, but don't turn ignorance into vitriol and don't give something a negative response just because it plays around with genre and refuses to let readers get complacent. This book zips along like a movie, and a good movie at that: it's graphic and filmic, funny and fierce. It does what we expect when we buy it but it doesn't do it in the ways we expect. There's no way this book won't make it quickly to the screen and it's good to read it before it gets cast. The central character goes on a rollercoaster ride, twisting and turning through situations and circumstances that are never quite in his control. Povey doesn't ask us to empathise with his characters, let alone like them. He describes their situations and responses without judgement: the good guy/bad guy binary we get elsewhere isn't offered to us here and the book is all the stronger for that deliberate omission. The imaginative lunacy of the world created by Povey demands an open mind on the part of readers. The fact that it's as literate as it is doesn't mean that we need to take what we read as literal: it's a flight of dark fancy, laced through with wit and energy and all in all it's a corking good read. Testament to that is the fact that as soon as I finished reading it I started over again! I can't recall ever doing that before. Buy it. It's a treat. In fact, buy a few copies and treat your friends. If they don't love it as much as you do, get new friends.

I loved this book. It kept me laughing and guessing and laughing some more. It would make a great movie. Like Sean of the Dead or Scarey Movie even - something that goes that little bit further than the usual stuff.

Reviewed by Paige Lovitt for Reader Views (June 2006) When the hero of the story accidentally kills a serial killer who had intended him to be his next victim, his life is forever changed. He rifles through the man's wallet and discovers his identity to be the "Grandson of Barney" also known as "GOB." He finds an invitation inviting him to join a serial killers club. The hero packs up his bags and heads out to join this group of misfits, where he feels a sense of belonging. As certain members of the club begin suspecting that he is not a real serial killer, he kills them off in the manner in which they killed their victims. An FBI agent discovers him and believes that he is actually killing these people off as a serial killer. He coerces him into trying to kill them all off as a benefit to society. It is not as simple as it seems, because of course there is the unstoppable KFC killer who is now stalking the remaining club members. "The Serial Killers Club," while dark in humor, is hysterical. If you are a fan of Elmore Leonard or Carl Hiassen you will totally enjoy this great story. I sat and laughed out loud about the hero's misadventures. Because he is killing off serial killers, you don't exactly feel sorry for them as you would for innocent members of society. They meet their maker in the manner in which each of them truly deserves. Povey's ingenious way of coming up with dark ways to kill people off is very unsettling. I am glad that he is not my neighbor. I am really looking forward to his future writings.
