Five people--Dr. McReynolds, Nurse Cromley, Corporal Renfro, Two Birds, and Lieutenant Sheets--band together amidst the hardships of the war-torn Oklahoma Territory to search for a mysterious treasure and survive the brutal and harsh frontier.
I normally do not read this genre. However, my brothers both read it and said that I would love the historical element and writing style. I was very surprised at the quality of this book, I think it is one of the best in the genre. I am now looking for all the author's other books!
Exciting

Dr. Russell has done a wonderful job of catching the mood of the times. He does the research necessary to make sure that his books are believable. The evolution of the relationships shared by the main characters as they traveled across Oklahoma kept me interested throughout the book. I was constantly wondering who would survive until the end of the trip. Over all this is one of the best books that I have read for a very long time. Dr. Russell thank you for sharing your story telling abilities with us.
Captivated my attention from the first page to the last.

Sheldon Russell has written a book that makes you feel the land and people of that era in the 1800s. His talent for the feel and texture of both the people and the physical surroundings is so reminescent of the great writers. There is a definite McMurtry like flare to his writing. I am eager to read his next book.
A must read adventure.

This book is a page-turner if there ever was one. If you like Native American, as in Don Coldsmith, laced with the darkside of McMurtry this is the book for you. Like Stephen King, Russell creates wonderful characters, makes you like them, and then makes bad things happen to them. I found myself wanting to become part of the action. These are my friends and I need to go help them! Russell has a feel for the land and this period in history. I only hope this becomes a series.
