What an absolute bore

I heavily dislike the writing style in this book, it's a slog to read through the first few chapters. The very detailed descriptions of locations and other bits were padded and the information they told of unimportant to the "plot". I didn't enjoy the characters much as they had the same dull, drawn out feeling as the rest of the book. I'm unsure how a book about such an interesting mythical creature and the thought of them still being among us today could be so boring. Perhaps a product of its time? Either way, I couldn't finish this book as the narrative was stale and lacked any hook to reel me in so to speak. Nibble the bait and spat it straight out.

Great Kid's Book

THE HARDBACK REVIEWS ARE GOOD, WHY AREN'T THEY HERE FOR THE SAME BOOK IN PAPERBACK? MAKES NO SENSE. I GOT ONE OF THE PAPERBACKS EARLY AND I THINK ANY KID BETWEEN 9 TO 11 OR 12 WOULD REALLY, REALLY ENJOY IT...SOME PEOPLE DON'T GET THAT IT ISN'T FOR OLDER KIDS. IT HAS SOME OF THE BEST ACTION SCENE SET-UPS FROM ANY BOOK EVER WRITTEN--EVEN IF IT IS CHILDREN'S LITERATURE. YOUR KIND OF AMAZED THAT IT IS SO IMAGINATIVE AS YOU KEEP READING. YOU CAN HARDLY KEEP YOUR BREATH. WHILE THIS MAY NOT APPEAL TO SOME, IT WILL KEEP ANY KID READING LIKE A MANIAC. THAT'S ALL.

Amazing fun! Ignore the hecklers

I was one of those kept up til late at night polishing off The Knight of Dragons. In contrary to what other reviews have posted, I'd say the characters are nicely developed. Indeed, they are complicated, and they are viewed from Simon's point of view. Simon can not be expected to understand or like his father until much further into the narrative. And, as to the artist falling in love with the knight, well, indeed, love is anything but rational. As to those who don't find the dragons scary enough, I'm from the school that finds the lurking danger is the worst. And a lot of the dangers are very adult in nature. The book has much to do with trust and betrayal. If you are reading it solely to pick it apart, I'm sure you'll find a way to dismantle it. But you won't get the point of the book, that "dragons" are all around us, and we have to get past the armor we've put on because of life's disappointments to band together and defeat the vicious and amoral circumstances which surround us.

The Saint Of Dragons

I have read many books in my life, but rarely do books ever reach this calibur. The author is obviously brimming with imagination. The book is filled with action and brilliant descriptions. I would highly reccomend this story for anyone in need of a book.

Dragons for the 21st Century

I'm sorry if some people don't think 200 is that old for a dragon--I don't know what medical source they're using for a guide. The whole beauty of this book is that it's completely unlike "dragon" books that have come before. This book creates a whole new universe for dragons to inhabit--they're here among us, today. And they're not what you expect. That may upset you if you're too unimaginative, but if you want to take a wild ride and turn your assumptions upside-down, then this is a great book. It's certainly got plenty of twists that always kept me wondering where things were going. After I read it through once, my girlfriend and I took turns reading it aloud. (We did the same thing with the first Artemis Fowl book.) And I, for one, loved the thousands of unlikely details: Dragons who love cats, gypsies who own airplanes, and many more I could mention if I wanted to ruin this book for others. This book is really fun.

a great page turner!

I loved this book - the plot was fun, the characters were creative, and the twists kept me guessing. After Chapter 2, I couldn't put it down!
