The Rosetta Stone of God is exactly the book my heart was seeking on these shelves. I ran across the most amazing and healing quote on pg.230...."Man confuses self-knowledge with the knowledge of his conscious ego-personality," say the Shariyat." One who has any ego-consciousness at all takes it for granted that he knows himself. But the ego knows only its own contents, not the psychic self and its contents. Man measures his self-knowledge by what the average person in his social environment knows of himself, not the real spiritual facts which are for the most part hidden from him."This quote simply woke up my heart center! :-) What an amazing book James Davis has shared with us. :-)

While working for a forest protection agency as part of a fire-fighting crew, the author fell through a wall of branches and found himself teetering on the end of a log as it jutted out over the edge of a cliff. Mr Davis invites readers to document your own personal experiences: keep daily notes- a living travelog of your life, including the discoveries that are special to just you. I like this book. It is clear, timely, and highlights alternative choices, options for facing todays current challenges and issues. Highly recommended for those seriously interested in spiritual knowledge and spiritual adventure.

James Davis begins his book by listing six miracles that began happening to him when he was 18. In cogent, measured prose, he invites the sincere seeker to share his journey- a journey to investigate who or what is the Mahanta- a project that he gave over 20 years of his life to investigating.He balances inner experiences, physical experiences, and insights in a tasty written salad that I beleive will be sure to satisfy the palate of the spiritually adventurous soul.Unlike other spiritual books I have read, this one carries little pseudo-intellectual dead weight, and there is no pretense of the author haughtily sharing ultimate truths from some Olympian mountain. What Davis has that I most admire are not brilliant intellectual insights or flamboyant metaphysical dog-and-pony shows. He has a dogged persistence, a willingness to stay with his chosen spiritual focus, that I dearly wish I had for myself. After reading The Rosetta Stone of God I am a notch closer to that overarching doggedness.If you'd like an extra dose of stick-to-it-tiveness, I highly recommend this wonderful adventure.
