This is a fun Doc Savage adventure, and actually the first one I ever read. The bad guy in this case has to ability to control sound, inasmuch as stopping it from happening. This gives him a few tricks to play with. There is also an intrepid female investigator type in this book, and she easily holds her own with Doc and the boys, and certainly gives them some lip.
