The Resourceful Writer: Readings to Accompany the Harbrace College Handbook

The Resourceful Writer comprise of a compilation of writing from various famed Authors, classified by writing styles to illustrate differences in composition. The book contains roughly 60 essays/papers(I didn't count it, I extrapolated by counting the number of essay in the first section and multiplying it by 12) broken-down into 12 distinct categories: Example, Narration, Description, Process, Cause and Effect, Comparison and Contrast, Classification and Division, Definition, Argument, Debate, Examination, and Writing for Research. This book was mandatory for an English 101 class from many moons ago. It is still on my bookshelf and is constantly pulled for reference. This book has been a godsend and has helped me through my many writing-drought. It is filled with many short but insightful articles that is sure to jolt the mind when the it goes blank two-days before that 30-page paper is due. If nothing else, The Resourceful Writer is an extremely interesting read and provides superb juxtaposition between the different styles of writing.
