a book worthy of reading

I find, The Resistance ,a very good addition to the on-going animorphs series.Applegate did a good job of continuing the storie's plot ,yet making the book more than one of those "in the middle books"that just give you information for the next book instead of telling a story. This book significantly showed the animorphs continuing struggle to save earth and the choices they will soon have to make. The way that the author worked the old cival war diary into the book to show Jake's emotions made the book more interesting. If you enjoy the animorphs series this is a must read.I think this to be the best book Applegate has written in this series in a while.

Heated Up Battle

The cover of #47 shows Jake changing into a beaver. I was not totally thrilled about this particular morph. I have nothing against beavers, but they do not seem like a particularly exciting animals in the battle for planet earth. As it turned out, the beaver came in very handy in a new and different way than expected.Jake is again faced with leadership problems. The Hork Bajir are fighting for their secret valley against the usual enemies. Jake knows the friends of the Animorphs face huge odds in trying to defend their valley. Should Jake encourage the Hork Bajir to flee the valley; or stay and fight huge odds to defend their turf?Jake and the group must also make big decisions about what to do to prepare what will come in the battles to come very shortly. The group is torn as to whether to stay a small secret group, or tell the world what is happening and try to get the help and support of people in the coming fight. Jake faces the question of secrecy when he must try to warn a group of campers to leave the area before they are swept up in the battle for the valley. This book does not touch on some of the problems of Marco and his family covered in other recent books. It mainly focuses on the free Hork Bajir and their battle for freedom and protection of home.Every other chapter of this book focuses on Jake's ancestor who took part in a Civil War battle. These historical chapters were supposed to be an anology of the battle taking place with the Yerks. The anology was supposed to be about a small group fighting a larger more powerful group with odds stacked against them. The historical chapters were interesting in that they were a different way of writing the story than had previously been used. That said, I found the story switch to be distracting. The Civil War and its problems is too huge to cover in a few short chapters. Some of the things said were not very accurate. The Northern army was called the Union army, while the Southern army was called the Rebels. To make things perfectly equal, which it was not trying to do, the Southern army should have been called the Confederacy. I would have preferred the story to focus on the battle with the Yerks and the Hork Bajir, rather than the historical story. But the book was a good read.

Solid addition to the series, although not the best.

Things are really starting to heat up in the struggle for Earth. Jake is fighting his own personal battle - whether or not to reveal the invasion to the public. Going public could mean getting the support they need, but it could also mean that the Yeerks, feeling threatened, would use nuclear weapons to blast entire cities into oblivian. And now the Yeerks have captured one of the members of the free Hork Bajir colony. Even though the Ellimist made the valley difficult to find when he created it, with a Hork Bajir guide, the Yeerks are sure to find it. Jake knows that this is one battle they are doomed to lose, but the Hork Bajir are determined to fight for their home. Meanwhile, a parallel story is being told - that of one of Jake's ancestors, forced into the role of leader of a small band of Union soldiers forced to fight against overwhelming odds. While this story destracted a bit from the contemporary one, it was actually an interesting tale, and it made this book one of the more unusual Animorphs books. The endings (to both stories, present and past) were very sad, however.

No longer the fearless leader...

Previously on Animorphs: (The Deception, #46): The Animorphs manage to contact the Andalite world, to warn them. Now, Visser Two arrives on Earth, and he' not happy about the state of things. He decides the best way to take over Earth is to have humans destroy everything the Yeerks don't need. He decides to start World War III. The Animorphs have only two choices: Find a way to stop the war. Or, find a way to stop him...forever... At Present: (The Resistance, #47) The Animorphs have to make an important decision: Do they continue to fight the Yeerks in secret, or is it time to let the world know of the Yeerks and the Animorphs? And: Jake's beginning to really feel all the preasure. He's supposed to be strong, when he feels just the opposite. And if he starts to lose it, he know the Animorphs are done for... Next on Animorphs: (The Return #48) David, the "sixth Animorph," is back. When the Animorphs and Ax decided to give another human being the power to morph, it was one their biggest mistakes. David tried to destroy all of them - and almost succeeded. Rachel and the others thought they'd seen the last of him when they trapped David as a nothlit. Leaving him on a deserted island to live out his days as a rat... They were wrong. Rachel knows what a threat David is. He's cunning and dangerous. Worst of all, he knows their secrets....

#47: THE FUTURE OF THE HUMAN RACE IS ABOUT TO UNFOLD....

Ten books ago an Animorphs book had the title of "The Weakness", for it truly was the weakness of the Animorphs series.Ten books later,"The Resistance"- is the exact opposite. Jake's under tremendous pressure once again- but it's not like in The Conspiracy or The Mutation where he was just irrational. Toby and her Hork Bajir people want to stay and fight the Yeerks. Why ? The Yeerks have discovered their secret valley. There's more plot in this book, though.Jake receives an old and distant diary belonging to his grandfather. It contains lessons and morals he'd learned in the Civil War.Ultimately, though I won't say why,it will connect with all that is going on...This is probably the best regular Animorphs book in the series so far because I loved the emotion and drama of the book. It's by far my favorite.Get ready for The Resistance...the future of the human race is about to unfold
