Good movies

2 features; the 1st-Remains of the Day, I had to watch twice to really get it. It is about a Butler(Anthony Hopkins) whose "Lord" as they called their bosses in England, was a peace at all costs marshmellow, which NEVER works, you just become a pawn for the other side who undoubtedly will have no scruples about lying & doing whatever to dupe the naivete of the so called "nice guy", the bad guy happened to be the NAZIs, so we all know what happened there. It was from the Butler's observations as he ran the household & observed the goings on of the frequent visits & meetings of many foreign leaders who also fell for the "we are nice Nazis, trust us" (only the American played by Christopher Reeve saw thru the facade & tried to warn, to no avail). It briefly dealt with the ever-growing anti-Semitism, which was appalling. I hated the ending tho. It just kind of built you up to thinking happy ending & then, not! Kind of left ya saying, "You mean that's it?" The 2nd-Sense&Sensibility from Jane Austen novel with Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson(also in 1st film)was well done. It's a good story with 2 ongoing love stories that both worked out. It was a bit shallow on character development if u never read the book, but it would have to be a series to do that. If u like Period drama, you'll enjoy this movie. All in all, I liked both movies, the 2nd one better.
