When ten-year-old Aviva comes home from camp to find her parents have separated, she is afraid that instead of being a two-family child, she'll be a two-bedroom, no-family child. This description may be from another edition of this product.
I was SO happy to find this! I read this book when I was a child in the 80s, re-read it so many times, I wore it out. It's the simple story of a young girl trying to cope with recently divorced parents and being a joint-custody kid. Although 25 years later, it seems fairly innocent (lacking modern day, ugly child support arguments, custody battles, myspace pages, cell phones and such) it is still good reading. Save it for children under 10, as older ones will be too jaded to take it seriously.
This was my favorite grade school book...

And my parents aren't divorced! I was an avid reader as a child, and I discovered this book right around 3rd/4th grade. I actually went through two copies because I wore the first one out. Aviva (the main character) is very relatable, and the story draws you in...makes you feel that there are other children going through the trials and tribualtions of growing up just as you are...and that everything will be O.K. If you're looking for an excellent read for a grade schooler, especially a girl, purchase this book. You won't regret it!
A 6th grade favorite

This was one of my favorite books when I was younger. I used to check it and its sequels out of the library at least once a month. Even though all the reviews will say the book is about divorce, it is really a story any young girl can identify with.
