Too much time spent on stuff that was not relevant

I like the book at the beginning. Then the author spent too much time spent on stuff that was not relevant. While realizing the author is also a Doctor, she did spend a lot of time regarding medical issues. The ending was a flop. I had read the author had to have certain things in the book for it to be published as well as several thousand words cut out prior to printing. Felt the book could have been so much more!
