In this book, a little girl named Alice goes with her mother when her mother delivers meals to old people who are unable to get out on their own, like Meals On Wheels. The newest customer, a strange old woman named Lorraine Coeur, takes quite a liking to little Alice, and has several hamsters, as well as an alarmingly large collection of miniature guillotines. Mrs. Coeur also has a large hedge garden, and prize winning rose bushes. Soon after meeting Mrs. Coeur, Alice begins hearing Mrs. Coeur's voice in her head. She is visited at night by a stranger man in a frock, who stutters quite a bit. Alice's personality changes, and she cuts the heads off of little sparrows she has. Is little Alice going insane??? Read this book and find out. At the end of the book, there is a riddle to figure out, and the graph in the middle of the book, combined with the name that the mysterious man in a frock says, is the key to the riddle. It was fun decoding his message to Little Alice. If you like a horror novel with fantasy, tht has an emotionally stirring ending, for those of us who still are children inside, and who have not forgotten how to dream, this book is a must read.
