fun entertaining read

If you are looking for a quick and enjoyable read, look no further. The Prophet of Lamath creates a refreshing take on dragon lore and brings about laughs along the ride.

Incredible Story!

This is one of the best fantasy books that I ever read. Unlike the flood of TSR/Tolkien replica fantasy that came after it, this author spoke with an original voice and wasn't overly influenced by all the regurgitated ideas that have since become a staple. I remember that I kept looking back to the front cover in places, wondering if I were reading a comedy. But after a few pages I would be reassured again and again that it was a serious fantasy after all. It just had alot of quality humor in it! Great plot, great setting, great fictional kingdoms, well developed charactars, and a thoroughly enjoyable read! J. Lyon Layden The Other Side of Yore

Another in the short list of amazing underappreciated books.

Huges crafts an amazing story here. It's a little light in the same vein as Lawrence Watt Evans, but like LWE, this is a fantastic story and one that never got enough credit for being just absolutely fabulous. If you've never read a fantasy book, this would be a good starting point.

well worth reading

I've read this series serveral times and it always has held my attention (i.e. caused sleep to be lost). Hughes is a clever and enjoyable author.

Amazing!!!

I have read I would imagine some four to five thousand fantasy and SF books, and quite a number of others besides, and yet this book - the first of a series of three (Pelmen the Powershaper) is one that I simply return to again and again - rereading is like revisiting and old good freind. The Characters are very real, the plot amazing, the combination of both is enchanting. Picking up the book you just cannot let it down. The humour that Don Huges shows is masterful, and the twists and turns of it leave you amazed.I would suggest the book to Fantasy and Non-Fantasy readers alike - it would leave anyone with a wonderful feeling - GARANTEED!
