Scott Richmond's The Pocket Gillie is an excellent refresher on essential flyfishing skills. He writes with knowledge, economy and humor. The text has good, useful artwork as well. A very good little book.

I can't say enough good things about this book. Once you have purchased your fly rod and reel this is THE book to have. Has a lot of good entomology drawings. Scott has a good sense of humor. Highly recommended.

I have read many books on flyfishing and I have found that Scott Richmond`s The Pocket Gillie is by far the best flyfishing primer I have seen. It is very well written. His chapter called Hard Times in a Bugs Life gives much insight into basic entomology to help one choose the correct pattern and presentation,which I think, is the essence of flyfishing. The book is economically written and fits in a fly vest pocket. I highly reccomend it.
