These short books are drop dead funny...it's not easy to commit slap-stick to paper, and Dafoe nails it every time.

I've never laughed out loud while reading until I came across Defoes' Pirate books. If you are a fan of Monty Pythons and other similiar british humor, you will love these books.

Maybe the best in the series (and educational; best way to attract a girl, beard pomades, political ideology). Funny and wonderful - can't wait for the next 27 volumes.

Belay your search for a salty tale of Socialism and Intrigue, and batten on to this slender tome! Russian Monarchists may want to avoid this book, as Karl Marx is a central character. The Pirate Captain embarks upon a perilous journey through London and Paris as he is mistaken for a Marxist and must save his crew from terrible Socialist plots. Written in the best homage to Gilbert & Sullivan's "The Pirates of Penzance", this series continues to delight and titillate the salty senses of the sea-faring soul. Practice reading in an authentic pirate voice, and have some cured ham handy for snacking.

Throw in some statuesque blondes, Wagner operas, and a mysterious fog-shrouded giant and your off on another romp! Add in some philosiphizing and there ya go.
