I've just finished re-reading this book again, it's a lovely, honest, refreshing and very funny tale of a madcap family in rural northern ireland and the various adventures of the Gordon sisters both at college in dublin and later back home in their rattling old farmhouse with their equally eccentric parents. This is a very true-to-life, evocative and laugh-out-loud funny story which i loved and the best part is there are two equally enjoyable sequels!!

a delightful refreshingly funny book, which will keep you smiling. Anyone who grew up with a house full of sisters will really appreciate the humour in this story. The follow up to this book 1- A soft touch and 2- The dolly holiday are the continuing saga of the sisters from Northern Ireland. Theese are books I have kept for the last 7 years and I still dig them out every so often to re read them....... thats how good they are.
