The Phoenix Lights

Whether or not you are a believer in life beyond Earth, this book makes a substantial case that we are being visited by other intelligences - one that is a relief and comfort for those of us who have experienced an UP [Unexplained Phenomenon]. The author, who is a noted physician, educator and experiencer, shares her own journey of discovery, while helping the reader discover that we're not alone - and probably never have been. This book is a joy to read, as well as an intriguing guide, particularly for those searching for answers. While I was searching, I happened on www.thephoenixlights.net and found the color photographs and footage on the site even more compelling than the black and whites illustrated in the book. But make no mistake, this important story is a must read for young and old alike.

This is a fine book and there's no disputing the sincerity of the author or her commitment to the truth. I suggest, though, that individuals interested in this event(s) also examine other books and look at additional items, like the Peter Jennings special, to get a sense of the odd ebb and flow of information on this subject. That program--the segment on the Phoenix Lights in particular--deserves some analysis; it was structured rather interestingly. Find a sharp friend with experience in advertising, psychology, or marketing to watch it with you. People clearly saw something unusual that night (and at other times) and it certainly seemed like the unusual phenomenon went out of its way, so to say, to be seen. That may be the most important element--it was designed to be seen and to be discussed. Plenty of people were out comet-watching; an audience was guaranteed. (Curiously, a lot can go on in the sky right over the heads of urban populations and no one will see a thing--few actually look up. I've seen crowds in broad daylight not see the Goodyear Blimp pass right over their heads--if they couldn't hear it--and other things). Strange isolated lights alone will seldom attract the eye but patterns of lights almost always will. That can be done with lights attached to some rigid structure, lights in coordinated and controlled formation, and lights simply dropped in a rough pattern. It would seem that all three phenomenon--all the possible permutations--happened. Hm. Again, all media information on the Phoenix Lights is useful as it helps to sort the wheat from the chaff. Oh, for the curious I strongly recommend you look at other titles from Hampton Roads Publishing Company that are not obviously flaky and New Age. [If you ask me, there was nothing ET about anything that happened that night, but a lot of people absolutely did see something huge and extraordinary. Now, what're the biggest danged things that ever sailed the skies?]

With all due respect, Peter Jennings' recent UFO special only continued the media's incessant and blatant debunking and confusion about a very important and real issue - that we are NOT alone in the Universe. The Phoenix Lights segment was very poorly covered, I must say. I wondered why Dr. Kitei - with her excellent research and photographic records - wasn't interviewed in that special. After all, she wrote `the book'. But this review is not about Jennings or the media, it is about an intriguing read that delves into the reality of the subject of unexplained phenomena more succinctly and honestly than any I have examined throughout my 20 plus years of searching. You learn that for many years the dedicated Doctor Kitei pushed aside her successful and respected medical practice to pursue answers to something most of us would not even begin to attempt. The extraordinary unexplained Arizona mass sighting and the realization that these anomalous events were occurring worldwide, was only the beginning of Kitei's trek into "wonderland". She plainly admits that the Phoenix Lights event pulled her into this strange world of the unknown, but as a scientist and skeptic she was determined to get to the bottom of the mystery. As the book progresses she introduces the reader to other "unearthly" possibilities besides ETs, one that Quantum Physics is readily supporting these days - that these strange incidents just might be interdimensional, as well as interplanetary. This is clearly a new take on the age old question of how other intelligences `could' be visiting us that is not only enlightening, but opens up realms of possibilities. Some people just don't get it...or don't want to. The reality that we ARE being visited by other intelligent life is unfortunately not something we have been privy to in our culture, but something that Kitei gracefully introduces so others can learn and grow at their own pace. Perhaps one day we will all take off the blinders, admit that we are a primitive and egocentric species and move forward to embrace the potentials that abound in the Universe. That's what this book and I dare hope our future is about.

I have followed the Phoenix Lights mystery for several years after having witnessed the strange lights myself on a visit to Arizona on March 13, 1997. I was thrilled when I saw that a new book had been written about it, especially from a witness who happened to be a medical doctor. Fortunately for me, what I discovered was an articulate account of a sincere and transforming personal journey, something I could actually relate to. The title of the book is right on. How comforting to know that I am NOT alone. I have had many questions myself that were answered beyond my expectation. I couldn't put the book down. Not to mention the photographs themselves. How incredible, yet credible, that Dr. Lynne had the forethought and dedication to document so much for us to consider, undeniable facts, not only in her written words, but in filming the Phoenix Lights on numerous occasion before and after the statewide incident. And now being brave enough to share them. Dr. Lynne is right on and she must know that she is not alone in her desire to get this out in the open, so the ridicule, secrecy and denial that have permeated the topic of the unexplained for far too long will take a giant step forward.

At 8 P.M. on the evening of the 6th February, 1995, Dr. Lynne Kitei had just settled into a bath when her relaxation was suddenly brought to a halt by her husband, Frank, calling from the bedroom. Dr. Lynne, knowing her husband, a family physician, was not easily alarmed, wrapped a towel around herself and rushed to his side to find him standing transfixed at the bedroom window, overlooking the distant skyline of the city of Phoenix, Arizona. Frank's frantic calls were well justified for, less that a hundred yards from the window, three sphere-shaped objects hovered approximately 50 to 75 feet above ground level. Each of these "spheres" emanated a soft, inner light and it was obvious that they were not resultant of some laser beam or light show. Realising instinctively that something very special was happening, Dr. Lynne grabbed her 35m.m. camera and managed to capture evidence of the strange objects on film. Little could she have known that this would prove to be the first of a whole series of events that would unfold over the coming months and years, peaking but not culminating on the evening of March 13th, 1997 when a number of craft and orbs, all unidentified, would cross the Arizona skies, an incident which became known as "The Phoenix Lights". The phenomenon of The Phoenix Lights commenced at approximately 7-50p.m., when a "V-shaped" formation of bright yellow-orange orbs was observed leaving the Las Vegas area (Nevada) and flying at speed over the border into Arizona. The object was observed to travel over the Phoenix area and then on to Tucson, via a 300 mile corridor. The "V-shaped" formation was observed by thousands of people - from lorry drivers to physicians and children to lawyers. A whole cross section of society witnessed the object as it made its way across the Arizona skies and as the formation passed over Phoenix, the city stood still and traffic on the freeway stopped whilst the vehicles' occupants stared in awe. However, Dr. Lynne was prepared. After two years of capturing the "spheres" on 35m.m. film and on video tape, she was ready with cameras at hand and succeeded in obtaining photographic and video evidence that would be broadcast locally, nationally and eventually across the World. Whilst avoiding all personal publicity and acknowledgement, Dr. Lynne fed her evidence gradually and anonymously to the excited media. Despite the magnitude of The Phoenix Lights incident, the eyewitnesses to the events became increasingly concerned over the lack of explanation or even proper response from the authorities, whose attitude, at times, was one of derision. The authorities, however, did not appreciate the determination and expertise of the members of the public who were committed to seeking an explanation for the events which had occurred on the evening of March 13th.
