My review is based on a need to read it after hearing the author discuss it (7-22) on WYPR (Baltimor

I have just learned of this book through the above. First off, WYPR is a top caliber news radio station. Tom Hall's program "Midday" is lively and engaging. Hall's interview with Thomas Frank could hardly be more timely or trenchant. This book traces the history of Populism in the US, Jennings through FDR to the present twisted version of it espoused by a misguided Republican Party. The inspired exchanges between these two "Toms" will keep your ear glued to the radio. Franks is author also of What's the Matter with Kansas...One Market Under God...etc. My hope here is to let more people know about this books. I'm a boomer on fixed income, am waiting for a used copy or approaching birthday. If you do nothing else at least stream the podcast and decide for yourself. Highly informative and enjoyable. I'll update when I read this one.
