The Overnight Socialite was such a fun read! It is the classic story of alpha male meets seemingly hopeless girl and attempts to make her the newest "it" girl. Eligible bachelor Wyatt Hayes wants to write a book that suggests any girl, with the right knowledge and wardrobe, can become the hottest socialite of the moment. Lucy Jo is a down on her luck Minnesota transplant trying desperately to make it in the fashion industry. When a disastrous night on the job makes her desperate for a new start and a way to break into the elite fashion world, she allows Wyatt to attempt to transform her into an "overnight socialite." Lucy's transformation, from her name to her waist line, is great fun to read about. The novel includes lots of designer and celebrity name dropping and social etiquette "dos and don'ts" and also chronicles Lucy's attendance to high society weddings, charity dinners, and million dollar birthday parties. It is also interesting to read about Lucy and Wyatt's feelings for each other as they get to really know one another better. (Lucy may actually teach Wyatt even more than he teaches her!) We also meet some other really loveable characters, like Lucy's newfound friend, Eloise; Eloise's commitment phobic boyfriend, Trip; and Lucy's slightly tacky but adorable mother. Of course there are also some characters that readers will love to hate as well, especially the meanest socialite of all, Cornelia. You will love reading about all of these great, well-developed characters and what becomes of them at the end of the story! Overnight Socialite is so much fun and the writing is wonderful! It is not written in first person (which I usually prefer), but the prose is so sharp and well-written that the third person point of view is actually more fitting. You also get points of view from multiple characters, which I think adds a lot to this novel. I definitely recommend this book to lovers of well-written "chick lit." It would make a GREAT Spring Break or summer read, so make sure you have it in your beach bag this year!

SUCH A GREAT READ!

WOW - I loved this book! A real page-turner that is witty and funny, with fabulous characters! I fell in love with each one and found myself wishing for more! Another fabulous job by Bridie Clark!

Finally! Well written chic-lit!

I loved this book from beginning to end. Clark's take on My Fair Lady and Pygmalion was very clever and lots of fun. I read it over the weekend and still think about scenes and smile. I can't wait for the movie and her next book.

Please, let there be a sequel!!!

Ms. Clark, please write a sequel to The Overnight Socialite!!! I loved this book from beginning to end. I want more of Wyatt and Lucy Jo, Trip and Eloise, and even Evil Cornelia! I didn't want to give 4 stars because of the ending, which does leave the reader hanging, but perhaps it ended that way simply because there is a sequel in the works, I hope???? So, five stars it is for what the book is in its entirety---a fabulous, fun read!!!

Loved it! Such a fun flirty read!

I read The Overnight Socialite in 48 hours - just couldn't get enough of it! It's an adorable story that makes you feel like you are reading an insider's view of what happens to New York City's "Page 6" crowd. Clark is sassy, smart, and such a clever writer. Can't wait for the sequel. I miss Lucy Jo already...
