New from leadership pioneer Mike Morrison

The Other Side of the Card is a compelling parable on finding one's true leadership voice. Using the business card as a symbol of personal identity and power, it helps readers understand that the blank side of their card-and the hidden part of their identity-is not empty space but limitless possibility. Beginning, middle or end of career: Read this!

So many of the books I've read that deal with personal development and leadership are vague and difficult to apply. Not Mike Morrison's The Other Side of the Card. Dr. Morrison's book is an easy read---short, packed with great lessons, and full of specific tools I can use. Through the voice of a retiring CEO struggling to define his new future role in life, we learn how to define deeper meaning in our work and personal life. As a recent retiree, I found the book particularly appealing. Retirement can be a time of giving back--a refocus on family, friends, and community. But there's a problem: These are not skills most of us have practiced during our work life--we need new tools and the book provides them. During our careers, most of us face confusion and frustration over work/family balance, the role of personal values, the importance of personal relationships, how to lead others, and my personal dilemma--how to `give back' when there never seems to be enough time. The Other Side of the Card is a roadmap that guides all of us through that confusion and frustration. My only regret about the book: I wish it had been written about 30 years ago. It would have helped me resolve a lot of confusion and frustration at the beginning rather than the end of my career. Thanks for a great book and some outstanding new tools!

An INSPIRING LEADERSHIP STORY and a quick read!

This book is thought provoking and inspires big thinking. This book will profoundly impact your view of leading and living each day. It's for everyone who needs to or wants to lead others in this world today. Honestly, I wasn't anxious to read a 'leadership story'-- but this book transcends all that. Three pages in to it, Morrison had me hooked!! The lead character is easy to relate to, the story of his challenges are our challenges. Through out the quick read, Morrison masterfully gives us opportunities to reflect and reframe our unique situations. The six steps create a real world pathway for the journey we must all take to make a difference in our work and personal lives. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book for EVERYONE ALREADY LEADING or JUST BEGINNING TO LEAD in ALL WALKS OF LIFE!

The Other Side of the Card

Mike Morrison's book is an insightful look at the personal side of leadership. Told through the journey of a retiring CEO, it is a must read if you're interested in expanding your view of leadership.

The Other Side of the Card

I read The Other Side of the Card in 1 sitting and found it to be compelling. The transition from "me to we" is directly relevant to the pace of change in my organization. I am hoping that it helps reduce employee turnover as my company goes global. As an HR professional, I cannot resist the urge to spread the word of positive psychology throughout my North American organization using Morrison's simple yet effective approach. I've already given my first copy to a colleague and I ordered another. I suggest that you do the same - it will make a difference.

I now have a favorite leadership book

I had given up on all the flabby musings in the traditional business press - especially in the "leadership" area. Then along comes Morrison with an "always relevant" and "sometimes emotional" story that consistently delivers - page after page. I love this book. You will immediately relate to the characters (they must be real) as they manage the slings and arrows of an accelerating world. The best news however, is that the book is well organized - and the six steps of the me and we paths truly flow with insight and a call to action. I encourage you to read this book - and then prepare to change!
