Absolutely fantastic

This is a fantastic book it teaches young children that they don’t have to be something that they aren’t to be magnificent. Great illustrations!! This is one of my son’a favorites

great for parents AND kids

I have a 4 year old at home, and we read a lot of books. Most kids books make you want to gouge out your eyes after just a couple times reading them. Especially books that were obviously just thrown together to cash in on a kids trend (Dora books make me sick to my stomach). This is a book I've probably read 40 times and I'm still not sick of it. My little girl loves it, and has most of it memorized. The story is a simple message for kids, but written in a way that is intelligent and well written. This should be no surprise as the author is the lead singer of Jars of Clay, who are well known for their great song writing. The art it bright and big, and make it that much more fun. As a parent who has read a LOT of the recent kids books, I can tell you this is one of the very best.

Awesome message and visuals for ANY age! GREAT GIFT !!

This book gives a wonderful message to anyone! The illustrations are joyful!! Makes a great gift !

Magnificent!

Fantastic book! I can't wait till my son's old enough to read it! In the mean time, I'll enjoy it myself. It's a real treasure of language, image, colour and little boys fantasy.

beautiful

I am a teacher and enjoy reading to my own 2 and 4 year old children very much. I loved this book as much as my little ones did. It isn't the story itself that is so wonderful. It is the combination of the story and the amazing illustrations. For me it is the illistrations that make the book so beautiful. I feel the criticism about the book not being more God centered, considering the author, is unwarented. We were, after all, created in God's image. What better reflextion of God can there be, next to love, then the beauty of creativity. This book is very sweet and I think the details in the illustrations make it even more wonderful.

A Magnificent Classic-to-Be

This book is truly wonderful. The text has a delightful poetic flow that is at times quite Seussical. The illustrations are gorgeously colorful, delightfully simple yet detailed, and a perfect complement for the story. A young boy wishes he were an amazingly unique fantastical creature, one everyone would admire and stand in line to see. He sadly accepts that this cannot be. His mother appears, whispering some strengthening truth in his ear - he is already unique and magnificent, just the way he is. I read and re-read books to a two-year-old every day, and most of them I can't stand. Some I have actually hidden from her to avoid reading. This outstanding book is one I look forward to reading to my own children some day. I just hope that this book gets the exposure needed to make it the true Children's Classic it has the potential to be.
