A dangerous and deadly heresy

Before you even think about reading "the normal Christian life" please, for your own sake, do some research on Watchman Nee. The so called "higher life" teaching he advocates will put you on the pendulum between pride and despair. Pride when you think your doing it, and despair when you realize that you aren't, can't, and won't ever because of your sinful nature. His teaching, and this book, has shipwrecked the faith of hundreds of thousands, if not millions. I read this book over 30 years ago and it got me in a whole lot of trouble as I tried to follow his teaching. Just do a search on Watchman Nee, Witness Lee, and the Higher Life movement along with Keswick Theology. These men preach law, not Gospel, the Christian, rather than Christ. What they teach is decidedly NOT the "normal" Christian life. There is no place for suffering, no place for pain, poverty, sickness, disease, or death in their system. The Biblical Christian life is Christ centered, cross and the empty tomb focused, and one in which Jesus is with you in the midst of and through your trials in life. Beware of this book! Yes, I've read it. I've also had it presented to me multiple times by well meaning Christians who have told me it would change my life and whom I have watched shipwreck their faith because of it. Use some discernment and do your research! Just because a book is labeled "Christian" doesn't make it so.

Life Changing

This book is easy to follow with relevant metaphors and clear direction. I’ve read the same scriptures many times and not grasped the relationships that Nee expounds on. It’s simple and shines bright for those who want to know.

Spirit filled Words

This a beautiful book. Leads to the doctrines of Faith in a simple but Spirit filled way. At times I am so filled as I read the verses it is explaining. Highly recons it. Just as good or better than “Sit Walkand Stand”.

Wow.. Just wow. He really shows a simple solution of what we have all been getting wrong

Clear simple text showing a truly simple solution to Christian life. Amazing!!! If anyone is struggling with sin and finding their place with God, this will open your eyes and give you the revelation you need. This man Watchman Nee is touched with the Holy Spirit writing this. Such a good book! I would like to carry this around almost as much as the bible

Christians should live this way.

I'm from Mexico City and for years I was hungry for something like this, even bether, in Spanish. For those looking to live by grace and according to the new nature, read this great information and you will see great deliverance. I've been a Christian for 25 years of my life and never really understood it.

The Best

This is the best Christian book I've ever read aside from the Bible. If you only ever buy one book, buy the Bible. But if you only buy two books in your lifetime make the second one "The Normal Christian Life" it will change your life. Take it slowly and pray as you read it; it will revolutionize the way you see yourself, the cross, the blood of Jesus, and your status before God. I've read a lot of Christian books, I don't think any of them come close to this. You will be changed. Pray about it.

this man speaks truth

I have known, studied, followed, and appreciated the ministry of Watchman Nee and his co-worker in the Lord, Witness Lee, for my entire life. I grew up in this fellowship, and I have only experienced denominational Christianity as an outsider looking in.Brother Nee's ministry concerning the church as set forth in this book is full of light and revelation. The church is the Body of Christ, as is made very clear in the Bible (Eph. 1:22-23), and as such there should be an organic relationship between all the members of the Body, namely, all those who have believed into Jesus Christ. If one member of a person's body rebels, the whole body is put out of function. Likewise, if a group of Christians follows one specific doctrine, and another group contends that a different doctrine is truer, more important, etc., then the Body of Christ is dismembered, because all the members of the Body are not fellowshipping in the life of Christ together.Watchman Nee, in his exhaustive study of the Bible and a lifetime of labor in the Lord, the last twenty years of which were spent in a Chinese Communist concentration camp, was very clear that there is but one Body of Christ in the universe. The oneness of Christ's Body is what Christ Himself died to produce, not just individual sects of believers (Ephesians 4:3-6, 13-16, 25). In New Testament times, the believers in a city all met together--which is why the Epistles are always addressed to the believers in a particular locality, Corinth, Ephesus, Galatia, Philippi, etc. Paul and the other apostles never addressed their letters to the believers on a particular street, and certainly Paul was very clear that all the believers he wrote to should not be divisive in any way, and should refuse any divisive teaching. How wonderful it would be if all Christians would see this vision, that in the church (including all the believers) there can be no Greek, no Jew, no Baptist, Presbyterian, Methodist, or anything else...but that Christ Himself is the life in all of us, and that He desires us to live by His life so we would be one Body to express Him and represent Him on the earth. What a testimony to the greatness of our God, that He could build countless irreconciliably different individuals into just one, glorious expression of Himself. This is the normal Christian church life Watchman Nee is talking about: how can it be normal for the Body of Christ to be divided? How can it be normal for believers who claim the same Lord not also claim to be members of His one Body? It is normal for Christians to be in oneness! Watchman Nee is also very clear that if a teaching causes division in the Body, it must be put out. How can I claim to be a Methodist rather than a Baptist? Or denominational rather than non? There is only Body, just as there is only one Christ, and only one God. That is the only claim I make, and Christ's is the only name I take.I highly encourage every Christian who has ever wondered what the Body of C

best book on God and Christ for new or confused people

an awsome book. one of the best beggining books, or for curious people. i would recomend this for anyone of all faiths.

Coming Home

Reading this was like coming home. Ahhh, I thought to myself...that's what I always thought too. And the parts I didn't say that, I said, oh that's how that works out. Yes, that makes perfect sense. This will knock your socks off if you're in a denominational church (99% of the Church). And if you're in a not-mainstream fellowship you will glean much from it of practical use. Highly recommended for any Believer. To go with this book, I also recommend _The Open Church_ by Gene Edwards.
