The New Tradition Cookbook

As Valerie was writing her first book (she is also the author of The Bounty of Central Florida), I had just moved to Florida to start college. My memories of the cooking in Florida fortunately advanced past the college cafeteria and I was fortunate enough to sample some of the best cooking in America. In Valerie's cookbook, she includes a recipe for Lime Pie that reminds me of Key Lime Pie, but is made with cream cheese and she also has a mango version with dark rum and orange. Imagine a Mango/Orange filling in an Chocolate Cookie crust. There are also delicious recipes for Pecan Pies, Rich Chocolate Cakes and Brownies and a recipe for Cheesecake infused with orange, lemon and vanilla. Perfect for serving with seasonal fruits. She has menus for picnics and parties, but also focuses on global culture and even has delicious vegetarian dinner ideas.
