Good tips from today and yesteryear

I really liked this book (my DD 4 months old). My mother commented that some of the best tips are things she used to do when she had her children. Many parents today don't know about these tried-and-true remedies from the good old days. I think the post partum and spouse chapters were excellent. Tells it like it is!

Best Baby Shower Gift

I loved this book....it makes the greatest baby shower gift. I always relied on the advice from my girlfriends over most of the material I read and this book is just that. Most books assume you've covered the basics and really as a new mom I didn't even know some of the simple stuff like swaddling. I've given this book to pregnant friends already. I especially like the colic information. My first baby had colic and most people just assume this is something you just have live through....I wish I'd had some of these tips then.

good companion book

I found this to be a good companion book to the other big books. Not a lot of medical information, but lots of good tips and stories of what other moms experienced. Nice.

A perfect book for all new moms.....and Dads

I found this book to be one that should be a must read for all new moms...and Dads. The different chapters range from feeding to bathing to diapering to child proofing your home to traveling and so on. Some of the tips and advice are so simple, that I wonder why I didn't think of that. Yet, some are things that I would have never thought of. I have even made my husband spend time looking thru it as we adjust to being new parents. ( By the way, he was most interested it the chapter "Fizzle to Sizzle, You and Your Spouse" translation being, getting back in the groove for sex ). But seriously, the book's tips and advice are helping him feel more confident around our little girl, instead of freaking out and not knowing what to do or how to do it. In short, I think this book has so much useful information that it should be read by both new moms and new dads. Thank you Mary Jeanne for making this book available to us.

The New Mom's Manual

What a super approach Mary Jeanne Menna has taken in this book for helping a new mom with all of the unknown fears she is sure to have. I have often found in the past that most baby books can be dull and also confusing especially when mom is stressed out from a crying child. All of the moms that have helped Menna write her book with their "Been There-Done That" problem solving ideas certainly should help a new mom overcome a lot of her fear before problems arise. I strongly recommend the book to new dads too as there will be times when mom is away. The book gives very simple solutions to the every day problems of a new baby in the home. The book is entertaining to read so mom and dad both will remember in the future some of the solutions when a problem arises.
