The New Chinese Astrology by Suzanne White

Trying to buy this book featured in the illustration but the book sent is not the same edition at all. Mine now is merely okay but nowhere near the edition I'm trying to replace. Feeling very cheated.

Not true to title

I bought this book wanting to read up on my Rabbit astrology and it’s not even in this book at all! What a waste of my money

The New Chinese Astrology

This book was terrific as I have read other books on Chinese Astrology in the past, have some even, and the way Suzanne White broke down even the signs, gives more meaning to the signs. At times in the past when meeting someone who is for example a Dog Chinese Astrology sign, they may not seem like someone else I know with the same sign, now I know why! This book is a terrific reference book to have on hand for anyone who reads up on Chinese Astrology.

The Best Book on Astrology Ever Written in Human History!

...or at least I think so. And some people say I'm awful smart. The book divides us humans into twelve categories. Eachcategory corresponds to an animal. Then we are all divided into five more categories. These are wood, fire, earth, metal, andwater. So all of humanity is divided into sixty categories. If I can be serious for a moment, which isn't easy sometimes, this is a very good book for business and human relationships. It is not the definitive book on business and human relationships. It has to be used properly. In a fashion to understand others and situations. Not to judge, moralize, or condemn. I do think that Suzanne White is thebest astrologer alive. I think that I have explored all the popular writers in the last thirty years. The very best bookon the subject, I still believe, is Suzanne White's "The New Astrology." That book and this book make a good team if used with discretion. In this book, we are entirely exposed to thesubject of "Chinese" Astrology. She gives a description of the twelve animals. This is further divided into the sixtywhen we add the elements. She gives a future outlook forall animals up to the year 2008. The book is large. Over 500pages. This is mainly because of the range. By this, I mean that one can use this text for fun or for very serious matters. The range of this book is what I think seperates it from otherChinese astrology books that I have seen. Some are "cute."Some take themselves deadly serious. This book is versatile. It's also a bit hard-hitting. The author doesn't believe in pulling punches in regards to her descriptions of personality types. Nor is she careful in sparing our feelings in regardsto our relationships. She descibes one relationship of mine asa "catastrophe." It is this clarity and the versatility whichmake this and "The New Astrology" good fine texts for businessand professional people who simply don't want to get into "all that." Namely, astrology. For those who believe that astrologydoes indeed hold something that is valuable and useful, butwho don't want to examine why, I can think of no other author who can help us. Help us to get into the "real stuff" of thesubject while not getting our hands dirty with "the stars."Buy this book and "The New Astrology." Don't tell anybody that you do put any value on astrology. And consult them when you feel thatsome insight is necessary. Thank you and keep clean and do right.

CHINESE ASTROLOGY FAVORITE

I DEEPLY APPRECIATED THIS BOOK. I WAS VERY AMAZED AT THE ACCURACY WITH WHICH MS.WHITE ASSOCIATES HUMAN CHARACTERISTICS WITH EACH OF THE ANIMAL SIGNS IN THE CHINESE ZODIAC. SHE EXPLAINS THE INNER DEPTHS OF THE HUMAN CHARACTERISTIC WITH ACCURACY AND PRECISION. THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT MS.WHITE IS A TRUE STUDENT OF ANCIENT ASTROLOGY. I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK FOR ANYONE WHO IS LOOKING TO UNDERSTAND THEMSELVES AND THE ACTIONS OF LOVED ONES AND ENEMIES. GO OUT AND BUT IT TODAY!

Worth more than money

Those who are cranky about the lack of technical astrology in White's books should keep in mind that a reading is only as good as the interpreter! White obviously knows people and personalities, and her opinion is what I paid the money for. If you want a manual, for heaven's sake, by a darned manual. But if you want a ready and accurate reference to your personal astrological tendencies or someone else's, this is a very worthwhile and absorbing volume. I have her "New Astrology" book and like it, but this book gives more detailed descriptions, and her intuition is uncanny. If you want to be clued in to what you've been up to all your life, buy this book. She described me, my husband and our marriage gratifyingly, and I re-read it time to time for a refresher. Suzanne is a unique and fabulous talent.

Ms. White's unique viewpoint is extremely helpful

Wish to respond to reviewer from Minnesota who criticizes Ms. White's writing - I haven't read current text, but have read Ms. White's original "Book of Chinese Chance" - in fact I keep going back to it almost every week and reread passages of it as I meet people who manifest certain idosyncrasies that appear puzzling to me - she is extremely accurate in assessing personality characteristics of Chinese years with zodiac sign - and found her personal anecdotal style very appropriate to seeing how personality traits of given combination manifest themselves in real life situations - by the way, so much so, that frequently it's almost uncanny and has made me be open to the possibility that the Chinese have known a lot more about human nature than most Western philosophers and for a lot longer -- also, her approach, which is to make such concepts relevant to a wide audience, makes one a believer (if not already) in a greater order and design to the universe then comes from the mind of man, alone. From - A skeptical attorney Virgo/Pig, married to a Chinese Leo/Ox who also has learned to understand her Virgo/rat daughter (as well as her husband) a great deal better after studying Ms. White's book. Test it yourself, for example, if you've ever known someone at work who would step on their own mother's back to get promoted, etc. (or the mother who asks "Did you hurt yourself sonny, when he trips?"), check their birthdate out with White's Chinese/zodiac sign. You might learn something and have some fun along the way! Glad to see that Ms. White is still writing - I haven't looked for anything else she's written since being given the Book of Chinese Chance by a cousin of mine who had highlighted all the things in Ms. White's "Pig" description he thought was talking about me.
