Cabbage Soup Diet

I think that this diet is one of the best things to ever happen! I loved the book and the diet too! Be careful because the diet is not something that you should continue for a long time. In fact it is more of a cleanse than a diet. But, I happen to have lost 15 lbs on the diet myself... so I am a believer.

It works, but consider some things before you try it

There's two important things to consider: First, this diet is pointless if you only do it for one week. Though you will probably lose 10 pounds after a week of this diet (I did), one week after you've finished, you'll be back to your previous weight, probably with some extra added on. To get anything long-lasting out of this diet, you'd have to do at least 6 weeks. Then you would need to gradually ease back into normal eating in increments as well as start to exercise at least an hour a day in order to maintain the weight loss. Second consideration is that this is not a healthy diet to stick to long term. However, I had tried every diet out there and couldn't lose any weight. I had a BMI of 27, eating 800 calories a day and doing intense exercise three hours a day. After several months of this, I had not lost one single pound. The only method I could find that made me lose weight was starving. Then I tried this diet, was eating more calories than previously, and lost 10 pounds in a week. As such, I do recommend this as a last resort for the overweight . If starving is the only way you can lose weight, this diet is a very good alternative to becoming anorexic. Just be sure to maintain the diet for six weeks and then adjust into a normal, healthy diet gradually while starting to exercise an hour a day when you have reached your goal weight. Don't forget your multivitamin. If you're just not good at making yourself exercise and restricting food, or if you're a healthy weight and just want to be thinner, this is definitely not the diet for you - try French Women Don't Get Fat instead. One last thing. This diet forbids milk except on Day 5. There is evidence (go to www.webmd.com and type in "milk weight loss" in the search field) to show that dairy food greatly speeds up weight loss. For that reason, I allow myself skim milk, cottage cheese and lowfat plain yoghurt (which I flavour with Davinci sugar-free syrups) every day, but otherwise stick to what the diet says. I'd recommend that adjustment.

Lost 35lbs in this diet

This is a great diet book. I lost 35 lbs in 5 months. I found about this diet in the internet and tried it. I lost 8lbs in the first week. After losing about 20lbs I found this book. This book is slightly different and better than the original version that I was following. I was doing this diet continuously taking 1 day break. Sometimes I was bored of drinking the soup everyday. This book has many ideas to spice up the soup. I definitely recommend it.
