Two boys on an expedition in southern France decide to protect the prehistoric cave they discover from desecration and public scrutiny. This description may be from another edition of this product.
I recently got this to read to my ten-year-old son for bedtime storytime. He had enjoyed "The Enormous Egg" (as what ten year old boy wouldn't?), and I had hopes for Narrow Passage. Well, it's a very different story. Less overtly fantastical, better written IMHO, and with a very moving theme underlying it all. It's basically about the end of childhood, and saying goodbye to the magic of childhood while looking ahead to the very different 'magic' of adulthood. I'm not going to go into much detail a) because hardly anyone is going to read this, and b) I don't want to spoil for the few who do. But if you like understated, moving stories about boys on the cusp of not being boys any more, try it.
