"Everything epic fantasy should be: rich, cruel, gorgeous, brilliant, enthralling and deeply, deeply satisfying. I loved it."--Lev Grossman on The Ruin of Kings You can have everything you want if you sacrifice everything you believe.

Utterly mindblowing, one of the best epic fantasy series!

I can't even put into words how amazing this book was! It has all the best aspects of Vlad Taltos, Malazan Book of the Fallen, and The Kingkiller Chronicle, while maybe being better than any of them. The characters, worldbuilding, ultra complex plot, the way it's written, are all beyond good! While reading it I constantly had a hard time believing I was actually reading something so amazing. If you're an epic fantasy fan, you owe it to yourself to at least checkout this series. Though is you're into 'mythic' epic fantasy like Tolkien's stuff, or political epic fantasy like GRRM, or Robin Hobb's books you might be disappointed. This series is very different. And is more like Steven Erikson's brand of epic fantasy. In that it's completely confusing, hallucination, craziness!
Everything I look for in a book

Subterfuge, good vs evil, romance of all kinds. Soul switching, mind blowing reveals! A hero who you can cheer for & sympathize with when the villain make a deceptive move. But also, the villain could be considered more of an anti hero. The details in the novel are astounding! I can feel the desert sun on my skin, the city of Atrine comes alive in the pages. Jenny Lyons is an exceptional writer & I can’t wait for the next book!
