Book Overview

He captured her legacy then he captured her heart. Rogue Welsh knight Rhys ap Owain disguises himself as a wandering minstrel and arrives at Rosecliffe Castle to reclaim his birthright and take vengeance on his hated enemy. And Isolde Fitz Hugh will be his pawn. With Isolde's father away, Rhys plans to seize Rosecliffe and his enemy's daughter, striking a mortal blow that is decades overdue. He has everything planned for his siege-- yet he is unprepared for the desire his beautiful hostage will ignite in him... A stranger lit the fire buried deep within her, yet it is her dire enemy who reveals himself to Isolde in the throes of first passion. How she loathes him, Rhys ap Owain, the man who has brought her such aching pleasure. He used her innocence and desire to gain his stronghold in a plot to extract vengeance upon her family. Yet neither his revenge nor her hatred is a match for the unexpected passion that will force them to confront a destiny much greater than either could ever imagine...

Her Best Book!

This is the one by which I rate other "Becnels". It's the third part of a trilogy but stands alone on its merits (you don't have to read the first two parts). The hero really grew up during the course of the book; we really see him mature and change from someone committed to revolt, into someone able to commit to a woman. The heroine is a little less well-drawn (she's a little shallow intially, and spoiled) but not totally to the detriment of the story. I recommend this highly.

WOW!

I've read all of Becnel's and this is her BEST! . Pure, red hot passion consumes the hero and heroine. Becnel knows her history. The plot is well orchestrated, not a page to be skipped. If you enjoyed the first two books of Rosecliffe saga, this third is a must read! ENJOY!

Moving and sexy

I enjoyed this book enormously. I thought Rhys was a fabulousdepiction of a man struggling with duty to his country, an urge forrevenge, and a desire to find love. Isolde is a heroine who grows up when she's forced to defend her family and her home. Their romance was moving, emotional, and sexy beyond belief. You won't want to miss this one.

Not as I expected, but better!

I love this book! Even the story's not like I anticipated before reading, but Ms.Becnel can make it far better. Rhys is a wonderful hero. I like him more than the heroes from the first two book, Rand and Jasper. He can show us his tender side along with his headstrong one. And Isolde is great too, They are perfect match.

She knows how to write mesmerizing historicals

In 1154 Wales, while the English Lord of Rosecliffe, Randolf Fitz Hugh, is away, Rhys ap Owain enters Rosecliffe Castle disguised as a minstrel. Rhys plans to regain what was lost decades ago to the English by seizing the castle and holding Randolf's daughter Isolde hostage. Rhys' plan of vengeance is perfect except for one nagging problem. His heart beats louder when he confronts the beautiful and feisty Isolde. To her amazement, she finds herself falling in love with her family's sworn enemy. Though her father has promised her to some London nobleman, Isolde wants Rhys. However, years of mistrust and ethnic hatred make any permanent relationship seem not only remote, but also down right dangerous.THE MISTRESS OF ROSECLIFFE, the third tale the "Rosecliffe" trilogy (see THE BRIDE OF ROSECLIFFE and THE KNIGHT OF ROSECLIFFE) is a stirring medieval romance. The story line is exciting, filled with non-stop action and romance, and tidbits from history. The lead couple is dynamic as they struggle between their heritage and their love. Ms. Becnel makes the twelfth century seem like her personal playground as she provides her audience with a vivid well-written tale. Harriet Klausner
