Telling the story of the miracles of Jesus Christ - as well as explaining their meanings - this book explores His journey of self-discovery, revealing who He really was. This description may be from another edition of this product.
This was a fascinating book. The thesis of the book is that the miracles performed by Jesus were more than just miracles, they were also signs to those who lived at the time that he was actually the Messiah. The author takes each major miracle performed by Christ and ties it to a previous miracle by an earlier prophet, etc. (I.e., Christ's bringing the widow's son back to life is an echo of a very similar miracle performed by Elijah. His miracle of feeding the 5,000 loaves and fishes equates to Moses feeding the Israelites manna and quail. His miracle of walking on the Sea of Galilee equates to Joshua stopping the Jordan when the Israelites needed to cross it to get to their promised land. You get the picture.) Thus, each of Christ's miracles connected those who witnessed it with a piece of their religious history and told them who Christ was. The book is easy to read; the maps and photos from the BBC documentary which accompany the text are great; and the text is extremely interesting. I recommend it.
