A young Jewish couple Ester and Filip are married..and don't even have a chance to celebrate after their ceremony...as the Germans came bursting into the synagogue..demanding them...and all their guest to leave or get shot ! This was the beginning of the worst nightmare of their familys lives. It immediately brings you to all the harsh inhumane way the Jewish population was treated..from being thrown out of Family homes...to having bank accounts seized and money taken for Hilter...anything of value..that were family heirlooms..all gone. All they had ..was what they could pack in a small wagon. During the many going on's of what was happening...including being put behind a wall...in the " Jewish Ghetto" everyday is a struggle to survive...food is very limited...heat...furniture...medical and medicines...all almost non existent for the Jewish population. During all the uneasiness...Midwife Ana Kaninski and her husband and sons..try to help Ester and her family..as Ester is Ana's assistant...Ana is caught and accused of trying to make false documents to help Ester and her family out of the Ghetto. They arrive at the camp..and Ana and Ester are Fortunate enough to stay together to help birth the babies that are born in Auschwitz..Here they face unbelievable heartache..as..the Jewish babies that are born..just about take their first breath...and are immediately drowned in a bucket of water ! The other babies ...that are very Aryan looking..are snatched away..hrs or a day or two after being born..to be taken to Germany couples ..to help Re populate Germany as all the young Soldiers are off to war. Ester gets the idea to tattoo the babies under their armpits...with their mothers number ..in Hope's when the war is over..some how..some way..they might be found and reunited. There are many Characters and details of each..that you can't help to be drawn to..and rooting for them..throughout their unbelievable ordeal of the Brutality at the camp. A Very heartful and strong read. Excellent story that mirrors a REAL midwife that matched their bravery and real life experiences. . All of five stars worthy. Excellent read.! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
