The First and Best of the Series!

Excellent futuristic retelling of the Bible tale of Joseph and the Dreamcoat. The succeding books are excellent too for the most part but this is definately the best in the series.

The Memory of Earth-- A masterpiece

The Memeory of Earth, by Orson Scott Card, is a brilliant and intense piece of literature. With a plethora of brilliant ideas and imagry that's so exciting to read, you'll want to purchase the entire series at once. Card's character descrpition and character interaction gets the reader so envolved that one could feel, taste, smell and hear every fine detail, just as the characters do. Let yourself fall into Card's imagination and read The Memory of Earth for an exciting ride into a sureal story that only Card could tell.

Unique...

Orson Scott Card is a great story teller. It is readable and the plot is great. Though i have to agree the most of the forshadowing in the book is directed to books written later in the series which was quite dissapointing to me when reading this book, for i was caught on a cliff hanger. It did not finish enough of the plot for me, though now i will have to finish the rest of the books just because i want to find out what happens...

Great for anyone

I enjoyed this book very much...the charactors were GREAT...they were complex and easy to relate to. The setting was original, yet not hard to imagine. The whole plot fit together so nicley. I just finished the second in this series, and it is ven better! I look forward to reading 3. I think whoever said that the plot doesnt make scence has to be like 6 years old because it made perfect sence to me and I'm only 13!

Wierd, but great.

This was a great book. I am a die-hard OSC fan and I have never read anything this thought provoking and powerful. I only recently found out after reading the series that the first few books of the Book of Mormon were used in the first chapters. I think that this only adds to to the book's greatness. Although I have never read the Book of Mormon, I assume it is similar to the Bible in that it's huge and not to easy to understand. The fact that Card could transform the Book into an awesome science fiction story only makes me admire the man all the more.
