A minor local landmark built against Napoleon's invasion, rotten to the core. A minor criminal operation, taken over by a major, taken over by a mega international terrorist organisation bent on atrocities, one in particular, foiled by the shadowy and potent Security Executive putting the martello tower to its only effective use. A glimpse of a new Mega Religion with only one Article of Faith: "The West and its present prime exponent, the USA, are works of the Devil" and only one Commandment: "Destroy these works of the Devil".
