The inspiration for this book is the author's great love of the Green Hill beach area of Rhode Island, which borders on the Trustom Pond wildlife preserve. A familiar sight in the region is the many animals that populate the preserve, especially rabbits, but also commonly, deer, and swans that delight children and people of all ages.
