An Intriguing Story Line

Have you ever wondered what mystical, magical events can happen when time "stands still" on All Hallow's Eve? The Magic Hour by James S. Crowley is a wonderfully entertaining book about two twin brothers who, like many twins, share a very special bond between them. When daylight savings time falls on the eve of Halloween, the mystical veil between our world and the next stands still for an hour creating the perfect opportunity for a nine-year-old boy to communicate with his identical twin brother who has recently died. The Magic Hour is written with humor, suspense and the magic of love between two siblings. It's a perfect Halloween read for both teenagers and adults. Once I started reading it, I found it very hard to put down as you quickly get caught up in the emotions and events of the characters. Creatively written and enjoyable, this is a "must-have" book for chill autumn evenings.

The Best Book

This book is one of the most exciting and awesome books I have ever read. The way Mr.James shares his point of veiw is amazing. When you read it, you are swept up in a whirl of what is happening, becoming oblivious to everything except the story.

A believable creative effort, not just for children.

Let's talk about creativity. It seems that there is a glut of fantasy fiction for today's young reader that relies heavily on imagination but lacks creativity. Mr. Crowley delivers! Creative writing is about crafting words in a manner so that we the reader believe that what we read is really possible. With out this element what you have is mere fantasy. Mr. Crowley'characters are real. The magic of THE MAGIC HOUR is real, the type of magic that can happen to someone like me. It is the magic of love, pure and simple. Simply believable. In a world where truths are often blurred this is a work that defines that which is believable, the power of love. This work helped me to believe in love again.

wonderfulW

I am an educator, and I love to share good books with my students. After reading "The Magic Hour" myself, I decided to read it to my class and the response has been great. It is a story about a young boy, Eddie, and his family, and how they deal with the sudden accidental death of Eddie's twin, Brian. It has many sections that are very thought provoking as well as entertaining. Even though it is aimed at young adults, I would recommend it for older people as well, even the whole family!

Captivating!!

My 10 year old daughter and I love to share good books. We read Harry Potter together and just had the good fortune to get Mr. Crowley's book The Magic Hour. This book is wonderful. I discovered I have something in common with his story. I have twin boys and I have lost someone dear to me. The story of Brian and Eddie is a must read for any youth and parent alike. Experience the excitement of Halloween and the joys of family spirit. I give this book two thumbs up! Whoever you're buying The Magic Hour for, you won't be disappointed. - Margie, author of The Country Gourmet
