A Brief Review of The Lost ShipWreck of Paul by Robert Cornuke. This is an easy read by a Christian adventurer who enjoys exploring biblical places and relics that are of historical or archeological interest. It is written as an account of the author’s findings and conclusions. In the process Robert Cornuke disputes the traditional location of the shipwreck. My understanding is that the Maltese government did not appreciate this, but refutations of Cornuke’s conclusions may be weak. The book is a story of what the author learned and how he learned it. It is like uncovering a mystery or piecing together a puzzle. Several personalities come to the limelight to help fill in the story, and it is as much about them as it is about Cornuke. What the book is not: • A scholarly academic work on archeology. Rather, it tells of some discoveries that have a bearing on and confirmation of history—biblical history in this case. • A Bible commentary. It brings to light poignant facts that help in understanding part of the book of Acts in the Bible. • A travel guide. Cornuke only mentions places in connection with the search. He does not tell travel details or tips. • A character study of the Apostle Paul. Cornuke tells about Paul in a couple chapters and describes some of his times and activities. Along the way, the events of 9-11 impact the author personally. It makes the story even more interesting. For those who love the Bible and believe in its historicity, this is an enjoyable and affirming read. Skeptics may find Cornuke’s hard conclusions troubling and provocative.
