Boring?

Don't agree with the reviewer who said this book is boring. Its got everything: archaeology, criminals, overthrow of middle American countries, infectious disease, big a** snakes! What's not to like? A real page turner in my opinion.

A true great adventure novel

Douglas Preston is a great writer in this exciting adventure book. Its great to know of the history and present of the Honduras also and it's mysteries. I also liked knowing about the infectious diseases and how susceptible we will be to them if climate change evolves.

Disappointing

Douglas Preston is a good writer, but I was very disappointed in this book. There were some interesting facts in it, but overall it was boring. I had to skip through it to get to the disappointing ending. Not worth the money. Wish I could get my money back.

Very Engaging Read

I read this book from cover to cover, nonstop. It was just that good. My only problem with it was I wanted a little more information about the White City. I know that there are still excavations going on, but it would be nice to know what else the team found. I love archaeology, but I also am a little peeved about how habitats are compromised by the need to understand the past. I'm so conflicted because I love to learn about the world's lost civilizations. Anyways, good book.

surprised!

I didn't realize that this was a true story about a expedition in the jungles of Honduras. I'm only half way through and so far I've itched from the bugs and jumped at the snakes. It's good and even though this is not really my cup of tea reading, I'm enjoying it enough to think about adding more real life adventures to my list in the future.
