The London Séance Society: A Novel

This author's first book was promising but this book falls short of that promise. The London Seance Society appears to be written to a formula that doesn't really work this time. The conversation and overall language doesn't create a sense of the time period, especially when the language is contemporary idiomatic. there are multiple deus ex machine that appear and aren't particularly believable. add to that the hidden hero that the mystery is based upon and you wonder if the author has any idea about the time period.
