This was a thoroughly enjoyable book. It didn't have the passion that "The Captain's Courtship" did and there were a few too many characters to follow but it was definitely a good book. I found myself laughing out loud and cheering Lydia's no-nonsense manner. And Edward was just as likeable. I look forward to reading the next book in this series of the Whittaker sisters.

Kate Huntington has one of the greatest Regency voices today. I love all of her books.
Kate is a Winner

Kate Huntongton never fails to delight with her Regency lovers! They're real - and ACCURATE. Think of all the heroines actual and fictional who exchanged letters with gentlemen without being engaged, who removed tea time dishes, and traveled about without chaperones! In spite of the crank overtones that have grown up surrounding the genre, author Huntington remains true to the wit, sly social satire and sheeer goodhumored romance of that Great Mamma of Regency Writing, Jane Austen. Can't wait for the next one!
A DELIGHT!

Regency authors are a rare breed. They write Regencies for one reason -- they love them. And that is easy to see with Kate Huntington's latest delight. From the very first line, we are immersed in that wonderful world of Regency England. Her characters are drawn with compassion and wit, never missing a step in that charming balance between wordplay and manners. I can't wait for her third release!
Greedy uncle displaces lady with unwilling cousin.

Lydia Whittaker has long been the voice of reason and stability for her family. When her uncle writes to inform the family that he is evicting them from the estate and establishing his son Edward as its master, Lydia calmly organizes the family and finds housing for them with her new brother-in-law. Edward Whittaker is highly embarrassed and put out by the actions of family. If he can only convince Lydia that he needs before her sensible side persuades her to turn him away. Kate Huntingdon is a wonderful storyteller. She continues to surprise and delight her readers with vivid characters and enchanting tales. I really enjoyed reading this new tale of hers and think her fans will be delighted as well.
