The Legacy

There was no explanation for the murders of two aging men in the rural wilds of Northeastern Minnesota. There seemed to be no motive, no reason to believe anyone would want Adam Budaslavich and Frank... This description may be from another edition of this product.

High praise for The Legacy

This is an excellent book. Mark Munger has captured the essence of historically based fiction in that he has created characters that not only are believable, but that you truly care about. My grandparents emmigrated to America from Croatia, so I have grown up hearing bits and pieces of the tragedy, pride and passion that Mark writes about. He gives us an insight into how and why the wounds of the past are still unhealed today for so many people. He takes you back, and after his fascinating tale of love and suspense is artfully woven and is concluded, you will find your heart a bit more full from the journey...a journey you will not want to end. For anyone who enjoys a great read, and especially for anyone with any familial ties to the Serbo-Croatian strife, this book is a must.

Judge Munger has written a captivating novel. His book is not only rich in Yugoslavian history, but also intermingles a passionate love story and a murder mystery all in one. The reader is able to envision each scene in their minds with his descriptive style and it is definitely a page turner to the very end. Well done!

Bravo former employer

This book is worth reading! It was wonderful to read a book about northern Minnesota with a historical background and page turning, suspenseful plot. Munger does an excellent job of developing his characters! I found myself cheering for the characters, the good and the bad. I encourage you to pick this one up!

Attention gripper

I just finished reading "The Legacy" and have turned the book over and am re-reading it again. The stories (one in each half of the book) were easy to follow and were real attention getters. The history of the region and the interaction of the political groups is another story in itself. I am re-reading the book to once again enjoy the characters and to develop a clearer sense of the times and places and political environment these stories were set in.I am facinated with the interweaving of the fiction and non fiction elements of the book. All the while I was reading I was "seeing" very clear pictures of the people, places and events. I was impressed with the "realness" of the stories; real life stories do not necessarily have happy endings but have elements of happiness, strife, love, pain. These stories will allow you to relive your own experiences in "real" story. You will forget that this is a novel, a fictional story but will instead find yourself "believing".My favorite author is "Michner" but I find myself hoping to read another "Munger" novel in the future.

You won't be able to put it down.

I was captivated by "The Legacy" - it's story, and characters. I couldn't put the book down!! Mark Munger did a great job developing the characters into real people. I haven't been this impressed since reading "The Perfect Storm". I thought it would be difficult to follow a storyline based during WW II, but I was wrong. The first half of the book sets the entire story up and makes it more real. I had to remind myself that this was fiction. I am looking forward to reading his second novel.
