The Law of Love

I ordered a "like new" copy, and the book arrived without the CD, unfortunately. (I probably wouldn't have picked it up if I'd known.). I'm using it as an example for a multimedia storytelling class, so having the multimedia missing is a big downside. That said, I was able to cobble together a Spotify playlist of most of the missing music (some different versions, but close enough for horseshoes and hand grenades), and the book itself was in really great condition. If you haven't read this one before, it's every bit as magical as Esquivel's other books, and reminded me I need to get the few I don't already own, since the author's pretty much an auto-buy for me now. :)

Mine is missing the CD which is very disappointing! I appreciate the art, but without the CD I think I'm getting just 2/3 of the gist Oh no, science fiction is not really my thing, but I will certainly try to read to the ending.

I did have tons of fun reading this book. As a Latin I do love a lot Cuquita's character because she represents many people I know. She has the pepper of the story. The whole plot is treated in an amusign way so you will never, ever get bored. Ninotchka Freer San Jose, Costa Rica

Okay so I am sucker for a soppy book every now and then! I liked this book; it was exciting, sad, funny and charming. I liked the idea of reincarnation and the fact that what you do in your past lives, affects you in your present life. That is the theme of the book and yes the storyline does jump about a bit but hey! that makes it all the more enjoyable, you never know what is going to happen next, which for some people can be annoying but for me was great! I also loved the fact it included a CD with lots of classical music, something to listen to when reading. Also the colour photos were a nice touch too, and gave a stronger sense of what was happening throughout the novel. Laura Esquivel has written another of my favourite books, "Like Water for Chocolate," and she has not let me down with "The Law of Love." This book is enjoyable simply because it is a fantasy. Read it for that reason alone, and you will enjoy it all the more. It's a treat of a book and the CD is great too.

This story gave a vivid concept of love through a messenger of spanish decent. A romance that captured a life from the city of atlantis to the year 2300. This book covered the bible ,reincarnation ,love and evil,the devil and angels of God. It showed us the future and how it could be,the past and all the past lives of the souls involved. How love always win,and evil never wins.The legends of the twin souls united forever in the end and restored harmony to the galaxy.The lives of a young soul being transformed to an old wrinkled body and with the final act of showing pure love to her enemy she was still the victor.

The book (though dry and rambling in some places), was quite beautiful. The narrative changes perspectives as each character explains a certain part of the story. It was a wonderful adventure!
