Iran Contradictions

Iran Contradictions is one of the best international intrigue books I have read. I rank it right up there with the early Robert Ludlum books. Jim Scott is a talent a cut above authors such as James Patterson or Len Deighton. The plot was carried brilliantly by the lead character, Ed Holloway, running into and out of trouble following the arms deal. Jim's writing style is intelligent, his use of words succinct and piercing, cleverly intertwining history with fictional characters. I recommend this book exciting book to any avid reader of international intrigue.

You Can't Put It Down

The way I ended up with this book is interesting. My wife came and found me in the store and introduced me to the author and asked if this was the type of book I would be interested in. After talking to the author I dedcided to get the book and see if it was all right. Boy am I glad I did. Don't let the title fool you. At first I thought it was going to be about how people ran stuff in the background during the Iran Contra Affair....and I couldn't have been more wrong. This was an excellent book. From start to finish it keeps you wanting to know more. I can't wait for Mr. Scott to finish the second one. He did an excellent job showing the insides and outsides of our political system, our intelligence system, and how they are intertwined. It reads as an excellent spy/action/mystery thriller. I would recommend it to anyone.

And you thought Washington was boring!

My husband bought this book for me as a Christmas present. He also got it autographed and personalized. That was an extra treat! I did not get around to reading this novel until about a week ago. I was having trouble falling asleep, and picked up James A. Scott's book. Honestly, I thought this novel would be the kind of book that would lull me to sleep - which was exactly what the doctor ordered. (Politically based or driven novels are not my cup of tea.) Wrong book to choose to fall asleep with! I greatly appreciated how Mr. Scott simplified the confusing ways of Washington, and delivered a wonderfully written novel. You cheer for the hero, you want to strangle the "bad guys" and sometimes you just want to scream at the characters "What were you thinking!" This novel really draws you into the plot. I am very happy to say that I greatly enjoyed reading the book. I finished it in about 4 nights. It was hard to put the book down, even at 5 am! My unborn child seemed to enjoy all the twists and turns in the plot. The baby seemed to jump and move along with the tension as the plot continued to thicken. My child will grow up as a fan of Mr. Scott. All in all, I greatly appreciate novels such as this, and will definitely be passing this novel onto friends and family of mine. It is definitely wonderful to find great novels and authors like James A. Scott. Congratulations on this novel!

Buy 2 copies - You'll want to share!

Forget what you think you know about the CIA, the military and American politics. From start to finish, this book delivers! With a convincing plot, strong characters, and plenty of twists and turns, this book is one you'll read well into the night. Although I was completely unfamiliar with the intelligence community or Washington politics, Mr. Scott's ability to simplify the complex issues surrounding the Iran-Contra scandal made this an easy read for me. I quickly developed a connection with the main characters. They had enough flaws to make them interesting, but still remained likeable. The plot twists will really keep you guessing. I especially enjoyed the "spookisms" woven throughoutthe book. (You'll have to read it yourself to figure that one out.)I bought this book when I was visiting my husband in Germany, where he is deployed. I finished it in 3 days! Buy one copy of The Iran Contradictions for yourself and a second copy for a friend or deployed solider. No one will be disappointed.

A New Iran Contra Conspiracy Theory

Abuse of military power, murder and mayhem, crooked government agents, and a U.S. President on the verge of impeachment. Just another day in Washington, D.C., right? But the Iran-Contra scandal occurred in the 1980's at the height of the Reagan Administration's power and popularity. Was the President nearly taken down as a scapegoat? Was he a power broker or a pawn? Twenty years later, Iran-Contra remains the most intriguing, unsolved mystery of twentieth-century U.S. politics, and the identities behind it are still a secret. Tightly woven around actual events, The Iran Contradictions brings the scandal to life in a flurry of violence and international intrigue, as author and retired Army officer James Scott tells the tale in heart-stopping fashion, letting the tension build with each new betrayal and breakthrough. His sultry women, lethal hit men and their high-tech tools of destruction are worthy of James Bond and "M." The book's hero, ex-CIA agent Ed Holloway, is a hard-boiled "consultant" with a steel-trap mind and a soft heart, and his loyalty to the President costs him the lives of his best friends -- and nearly his own. Classic spy novel backdrops of Washington, Geneva, and the French Riviera are spiced up by a gritty flashback to the fall of Saigon, resurrecting its sights, sounds and smells with intense realism. The plot twists and turns while the characters double and triple-cross each other, until it all crashes together at the end with only a few left standing. The Iran-Contradictions provides a new perspective on the arms-for-hostage deal and the men and women involved. Scott's premise turns conventional explanations of the affair upside down, while offering a thoroughly entertaining read.
