Climate change had been predicted long ago, but not one person could foresee the events that had unfolded. Humanity is defeated, civilization lost, all hope has gone. Enlightenment is the new belief, but there are those that refuse to believe. There is an alternative and Gideon knows it. He has to find 'Trenchant' if he has any chance of participating in the greatest battle of his life - The battle for mankind.

Something was growing inside of him. It was a deep sensation. He couldn't explain it, but he had become aware of a presence stirring within, gnawing away and convicting him, encouraging him to press on toward his goal. The goal to survive, escape and find Trenchant. It was the power that brought clarity to his mind, it filled his heart with hope and vision. It was supernatural and although he couldn't fully understand, appreciate or explain it, he knew that he wanted and needed much more.
