The Illustrated Laws of Soccer introduces young player to the basic rules of the world's most popular sport. Designed to stimulate discussion among coaches, players, and parents, this book presents the seventeen Laws of the Game in simplified form so they can be easily understood by young players. Topis also include background information, selected referee and linesman signals, and a discussion of the importance of good sportsmanship. Each of the laws is fully demonstrated with detailed, full-color illustrations by artist Patrick T. McRae.
Even though I only give this book 4 stars, it's perfect for a young player to go over, reviewing it with his or her family or an older brother or sister. I withhold that fifth star because my experience is that once a player is a fifth grader or so, it's a little too simplistic for ambitious U-10 players! Seriously, if I were building a resource area for a YMCA or a soccer club, I'd purchase several copies of this book to help the younger players learn the rules.
Covers the basic skills and the rules of game very well.

I thought the diagrams really helped explain many of the rules and penalties. This would be a good "starter" book or simple research-type book.
