This is a very hard story for me to review. It started out well, then it kind of took a while for the story to go anywhere, and towards the end it really took off with a bang! While at times this read like a YA novel, at other times it was quite graphic. This was an interesting idea to create a story about an ancient race of people who apparently migrated to America that they were here when the first explorers got to America and have been in this one section of Appalachia forever. No one seems to know exactly who the Tufa are or where they came from, but they also seem to have magical qualities that are brought alive by the music.
