Asimov says of the split of volumes in 4, taking the piss, what, write two introductions for only one advance? He mollifies himself somewhat by the fact he gets a story into one of the books. This one is literally one star off being as good as 4, coming in at a 3.93 average, under the platinum 4.00 standard. Still, also an outstanding book, with only one average story, absolutely worth having this group of longer work, again. A planet of aliens that are similar but different to humans is a target of exploitation. The forests hold the whole ecology together in a more important way than on Earth. The natives know nothing of violent conflict, but when brutality and violence is used by the invaders to try and get what they want, the locals learn quickly. 4 out of 5 Computer go between has decent pipes. 3 out of 5 Brain surgery decision. 4 out of 5 Last dolt good with bots. 3.5 out of 5 Remote media darling. 3.5 out of 5 Devil Stack Man end. 4 out of 5 "Well we know where were goin But we dont know where weve been" 4 out of 5 Post suicide Union Joining rejection. 4 out of 5 Werewolf's Frankenstein graser soul search. 4 out of 5 Quantum black hole is ridiculous overkill. 3.5 out of 5

Every science fiction fan needs a Hugo compilation book on their shelf. Forget "Legends" and that other stuff, which is always hit and miss anyway. Go for the tried and true lovely stories that you will read again and again until you grow old, die, and are buried with them. My favorite among this group is Asimov's "Super-Hugos" compilation.... For those days when you are weary of reading that epic 700 page book, buy one of these and dabble in lovely well-written sci-fi and fantasy. It's like little French chocolates. It makes you happy, and requires no effort to enjoy.(10 out of 10: there's just nothing bad about them).
