Elizabeth Robb left Three Creeks not planning to ever return to her hometown as the memories were bad. However, Elizabeth cannot refuse the request to come home from her beloved grandmother to help her go through family mementos before selling the farm. The story line emphasizes the cast so that the readers fully understand why Elizabeth would prefer to stay away, but also feels a need to help her beloved grandmother.
