Tastefully written adventure with romance.

The Highlander's Sword was a great story of excitement, adventure and romance. Forrester has a wonderful story of an arranged marriage and the ensueing chaos that takes place making Aila, the main female character, a highly saught prize. This was a wonderful story, that was not hidden in the steam of most romances, but is a great story with twists and turns. She does a great job of mixing adventure, history and romance. I would recommend this book highly, especially to those who like a good story, with some love without too much heat. Tastefully written and fun to read, I'd recommend it's well worth the read.

What a great story!

"If They Caught Him, He Would Hang"...so starts this well written and vivid story. MacLaren, introduced on the first page, seizes the reader's attention and never lets go or slows down. A hardened Scottish warrior who is keenly aware of his responsibilities to his clan (my favorite variety of hero), initially meets Aila Graham, a woman long ago promised to the convent, when he accepts her as a wife through a deal with her father, Lord Graham. Aila is a gentle, pragmatic and resourceful woman (another personal favorite) who witnesses her carefully planned future altered by a twist of fate. She comes into her own when she decides to make the best of it and become a partner in her marriage. The secondary characters are wonderfully drawn and compelling...Chaumont quickly became a great favorite of mine. I had a great time reading this delightful and intelligent page-turner, containing an artful blend of tension, history, gentle romance, mystery and betrayal rolled into a fast-paced story to savor from beginning to end. Forester's style is smart, easy to read and I felt I was living in the story. Her focus on history and detail gave a depth of richness and simply made me believe. I can hardly wait to read the next book from Amanda Forester.

The Highlander's Sword

For many years now, Aila has been destined for the church, she knows nothing else. But on St. John's Eve she's summoned by her father. He informs her that she will be marrying Padyn MacClaren. Not only that... there will be no engagement period, for she will be getting married today, this moment in fact. Needless to say her world is shaken and her journey takes a different turn with this highlander. The Highlander's Sword is a lighthearted page-turner. I had a hard time putting the book down. The story is lush in detail from the landscape to everyday life. Amanda Forester weaves an interesting tale. She brings the beautiful and rough Scottish Highlands to life. I thought this was an enjoyable read, I definitely recommend it.

A Historical Romance for modern day reading!

Aila is shaken when she is forced to marry Padyn at once with no courtship or engagement. To say her world is turned upside down is an understatement. The author shows great work in details and story plot that flows nicely and makes a Historical Romance beautiful for modern day reading. There was not a lot of dull spots, which made the book flow beautifully and quickly. For a debut author, this was amazing to accomplish. I am not a huge fan of historicals, but the author has written such a wonderful story, that I really did enjoy it this time around. A great new book from a new author that will keep you warm at night with quick page turning romance. A great new addition to the romance genre. [...]
